What is Accessible-RPG
Make Gaming Tables Accessible to Everyone
The purpose of this resource is to provide guidance to players, game masters, content creators, streamers, venue owners, and event coordinators within the tabletop roleplaying community to create more accessible environments and conditions for everyone involved regardless of disability or accommodation need.
The framework for the site was developed by taking the symptomatic responses that are experienced by players separated from the conditions that trigger them.
For instance, symptoms that impact attention span can be caused from several conditions: diet, hormonal changes, sleep deprivation, stress, and other specific conditions, such as ADHD, ADD, and emotional disturbances. So rather than address each of these conditions and list all the symptoms that they create, Accessible-RPG endeavors to provide recommendations for the needs directly.
The Needs Have Been Broken Into 5 Characteristic Expression Types:
- Physical
- Communicative / Receptive
- Behavioral
- Cognitive
- Emotional
It is my intent that moderation and content guidance eventually be created by members of the disabled community directly. As it stands, the documentation provided as guidance does not include enough input directly from the community itself, and is possibly in need of revision and expansion.
Please inform me, if any terminology, recommendations, or considerations are offensive, inaccurate, or unhelpful, and I will personally make an effort to correct the dialogue immediately.
Additionally, in many instances, you will find references to players as “children”. This is because the guidance and available content was initially being designed for younger players. As the page is continually revised, proper delineations between ages of players will be created.
